. Astronomy, stacks of books, the rhythm of music and the seasonal forest have fueled Runyeon’s abstract artworks for decades. Major influences include the expressive splashy brush strokes of the Abstract Expressionists, the collages of Matisse, Kurt Switters, Joseph Cornell and the paintings of Joan Mitchell.
In 1981, Runyeon received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to receiving her degree, she spent a year writing and making collages at The Rhode Island School of Design under the guidance of Dale Chihuly. She returned to her hometown of Reading, PA to teach at Albright College, appreciating the nourishment of her roots. The entrepreneurial spirit immerged and All Together Art, Inc was formally established in 2001. Today Runyeon continues to be an avid painter, stained glass designer, curator, civic leader, manager of her online art business, and lecturer on a wide varied of topics. Her days are spent in the studio inspired by the creative process itself and the natural world. She affectionately refers to her new art studio as Faux Prague, “the underground laboratory.”
Numerous commissions, exhibitions and directing various workshops are on her long resume including the Empire State Building, The Reading Hospital, Brush Creek Ranch, the College of the Atlantic, the Society of the Four Arts and The Acadia Night Festival.
Central to her passion is the advocacy for the artists and the arts within education and the community. Jane lives with her husband Art and their dog Liza Minelli in the historical offices of world renowned peony and iris horticulturist Bertrand Farr.
